EBOO PATEL Executive Director Eboo Patel is the founder and Executive Director of the Interfaith Youth Core, a Chicago-based international nonprofit working to build mutual respect and pluralism among religiously diverse young people by empowering them to work together to serve others. He is the author of Acts of Faith: The Story of an American Muslim, the Struggle for the Soul of a Generation, released by Beacon Press in June 2007. Eboo holds a doctorate in the sociology of religion from Oxford University, where he studied on a Rhodes scholarship. He serves as an online panelist for the "On Faith" blog, co-hosted by The Washington Post and Newsweek Magazine. Eboo also serves on the Religious Advisory Committee of the Council on Foreign Relations, the National Committee of the Aga Khan Foundation USA, the Advisory Board of Duke University's Islamic Studies Center, and the Chicago Council on Global Affairs. He has written for The Chicago Tribune, The Journal of Muslim Law and Culture, The Harvard Divinity School Bulletin and National Public Radio. He is a sought-after speaker, delivering the Keynote Speech at the 2004 Nobel Peace Prize Forum and the Commencement Dress at Augsburg College in 2006. Eboo is an Ashoka Fellow, part of a select group of social entrepreneurs whose ideas are changing the world, and was featured in Islamica Magazine as one of the leading young Muslim visionaries in America. |
APRIL KUNZE |
APRIL KUNZE Vice President of Programs After extensive involvement in student leadership in the evangelical Christian community, Kunze joined the Interfaith Youth Core as a volunteer in 2000. Two years later, she became its first staff member and now directs program strategy for the organization as the Vice-President of Programs. Kunze consults with young people, educational institutions and emerging interfaith youth efforts across the world to enhance their work and build partnerships. Her reflections on interfaith youth work have inspired young people across the world and have appeared in over a dozen publications, including Review and Expositor, Interreligious Insight, Buzz Magazine, Sourcepoint, and Awakening the Spirit, Inspiring the Soul. Another insightful contribution will soon be published in Interactive Faith, a forthcoming book from Skylight Paths. Kunze continues to share her experience through global opportunities for collaboration, most recently at the World Assembly of Religions for Peace in Hiroshima and Kyoto, and at Issues Deliberation Australia, in Canberra. Her professional background is in youth leadership, grassroots community building and organizational development. She is the founder and board chair of The Crib Collective, an organization focused on creating a culture of social entrepreneurship among Chicago youth. A graduate of Carleton College and Public Allies Chicago, Kunze was recently named Public Allies Chicago's Changemaker of the Year. |

CHARLES LEVESQUE |
CHARLES LEVESQUE Chief Operating Officer Charles (“Chuck”) Levesque is the Chief Operating Officer of the Interfaith Youth Core. Prior to joining IFYC, Chuck served as the Deputy General Counsel of the Chicago Housing Authority, where he oversaw litigation and policy matters for the nation’s most ambitious reform of public housing. Chuck has also served as a U.S. diplomat with overseas postings in Sao Paulo, Brazil and Tirana, Albania. He has a J.D. from Northwestern University, a Master's Degree in Public Administration from the University of Illinois, and a B.S.F.S. from Georgetown University. In addition to his professional work, Chuck is active in community education and literacy programs in Chicago. |
