CASSIE MEYER |
CASSIE MEYER Outreach Education and Training Coordinator Cassie completed her Master's Degree at the University of Chicago Divinity School, where her work focused on social justice movements in American Christianity; she currently teaches a class with Eboo Patel at Chicago Theological Seminary on interfaith action in the world. At U of C, she and a group of progressive religious students built an online forum to discuss faith and politics, and she is currently a member of the Community Renewal Society’s Associate Board. Her undergraduate degree, from Lawrence University, is in Religious Studies, focusing on Christianity and Islam. While at Lawrence, Cassie was a key student leader of Lawrence Christian Fellowship, an ecumenical chapter of Intervarsity Christian Fellowship. At IFYC, Cassie coordinates the Outreach Education & Training Program, regularly speaking on college campuses, in faith communities, and to civic organizations about the importance of interfaith you work; she also trains young leaders to organize interfaith service work. Originally from Seattle, Washington, Cassie is an evangelical committed to the radical social message of the Gospel and with an affinity for liturgy and contemplative prayer. |
JENAN MOHAJIR |
JENAN MOHAJIR Outreach Education and Training Associate Jenan Mohajir has been extensively involved with the Muslim community through several grassroots initiatives in Chicago. She currently serves as the program associate for the Outreach Education & Training program at the Interfaith Youth Core, where her primary focus is on building relationships between the Muslim community and the Interfaith Youth Movement. Jenan also frequently speaks at various college campuses nationally regarding the importance of interfaith cooperation among young people, in addition to training youth leaders in organizing local interfaith youth service-learning events. |

NAOMI GREENSPAN |
NAOMI GREENSPAN Outreach Education and Training Associate Naomi received her B.A. in Psychology and Jewish, Islamic & Near Eastern Studies from Washington University in St. Louis in May 2005. Prior to joining IFYC, Naomi worked as the Program Associate for the Commission on Interreligious Affairs of Reform Judaism. Her work there focused on building bridges with other North American religious communities on both a grassroots and national level. She played an instrumental role in developing curricula for Jewish-Christian and Jewish-Muslim dialogue and worked with rabbis, congregational leaders, and high school students to engage them in interfaith work. In June 2006, Naomi was selected as a young adult scholarship recipient to the North American Interfaith Network Connect conference in Vancouver, British Columbia. She was also a delegate to the Religions for Peace World Youth Assembly and the VIII World Assembly in Hiroshima and Kyoto, Japan in August 2006. She served as the co-chair for the Religions for Peace North American Young Adult Network from 2005-2007. In addition to her interfaith experiences, Naomi has been very involved in the Jewish community, taking on leadership roles throughout high school and college. |
HIND MAKKI |
HIND MAKKI Outreach Education and Training Associate Hind received her B.A. in International Relations, focusing on Global Security and Diplomacy, in May 2001 from Brown University. She returned to her native southwest suburban Chicago, where she worked extensively within the Muslim community on matters regarding integration in American society, interfaith dialogue, education and youth leadership development. She was a board member of the Muslim Youth Center located in Bridgeview and currently sits on the board of the Southwest Interfaith Team (SWIFT), representing the Orland Park Prayer Center. She has been a mentor and team advisor of the Aqsa School Model UN team since 2004. Hind joined the IFYC as a Program Associate in the Outreach and Education Team in August 2007. |

HEATHER GREENWELL |
HEATHER GREENWELL Educational Resources Associate Heather, a Roman Catholic native of Lexington, KY, received her B.A. in Studio Art from the College of Wooster and studied photography and drawing at the Glasgow School of Art in Glasgow, Scotland. She received her Master of Divinity Degree from the Catholic Theological Union (CTU) in Chicago. During her tenure at CTU, she was a mentor in the Peacebuilders Initiative, president of the Student Representative Council, a member of the Project for Self-Sufficiency Chicago Delegation to El Salvador, and a Triathlon Team Member of Team in Training. Heather was a charter member of Seminary Student Action, an ecumenical group comprised of student leaders from the various seminaries in the Hyde Park neighborhood of Chicago. Before coming to Chicago, Heather walked El Camino de Santiago Compostela pilgrimage in Spain, worked with the Christian Appalachian Project in Eastern Kentucky, and taught art for K-8th grade students at Our Lady of Lourdes Elementary School on the Pine Ridge Indian Reservation in South Dakota. At IFYC, Heather develops curricula and products for the Outreach, Education, and Training Program Area. |
NOAH SILVERMAN |
NOAH SILVERMAN Content Coordinator Noah Silverman serves as content coordinator within the Outreach Education & Training team, writing articles and helping to develop training materials, curricula, and organizing tools in the “how-to” of interfaith youth work. Noah previously managed the 2006 National Days of Interfaith Youth Service campaign, organized the 4th National Conference on Interfaith Youth Work, delivered the keynote address at the 2006 Universal Forum of Cultures pre-forum Youth Event in Monterrey, Mexico, and co-taught a course on interfaith peacebuilding at DePaul University in Chicago. Noah graduated Phi Beta Kappa with a B.A. in religious studies and international relations from Connecticut College, where he wrote his undergraduate thesis on interreligious peacebuilding in Israel/Palestine. He has worked for the World Conference of Religions for Peace at the United Nations, the Interfaith Encounter Association in Jerusalem, and the Council for a Parliament of the World’s Religions in Chicago, including staffing the 2004 Parliament of the World’s Religions in Barcelona. A Chicago native, Noah grew up attending K.A.M. Isaiah Israel congregation in the South Side neighborhood of Hyde Park. |
AMBER JEAN HACKER |
AMBER JEAN HACKER Outreach Education and Training Associate Amber received her B.A. in English from the University of North Carolina-Wilmington in May of 2006. Amber grew up in the Christian tradition in the Research Triangle Park area of North Carolina. She comes to us with four years of combined experience in university student life, having been a Resident Assistant and Orientation Leader where she specialized in social, educational, and community programming. Through her involvement with the Christian community and campus ministry groups, Amber volunteered with several North Carolina organizations, such as Habitat for Humanity, Raleigh Food Bank, Wilmington Soup Kitchen, Mother Hubbard’s Cupboard, and the Wilmington Domestic Violence Shelter. Amber was one of twenty students to receive a Senior Medallion award from UNC-Wilmington in 2006, which was presented by the school’s Division of Student Affairs on behalf of the university community for academic excellence and community service. Amber is the twice recipient of the Leadership Excellence Award given by UNC-Wilmington’s Campus Leadership Education and Service office, as well as a member of Phi Kappa Phi, an honor fraternity where nomination is based on class standing. Amber is the Outreach Education & Training team Assistant at Interfaith Youth Core, responsible for all administrative duties associated with the team. |
