Office Manager

Kara is a recent member of the Chicago Community. She received her B.A. in International Business from Johnson & Wales University in Denver, concentrating in Operations Management. She has been involved in grassroots organizations in her hometown like Seeking Common Ground through their programs Building Bridges for Peace and Face to Face/Faith to Faith, focused on community peace through leadership, dialogue and conflict resolution training. She has also dedicated time locally as an intern with the Let’s Talk Let’s Test Foundation, helping eradicate HIV/AIDS in the African-American community of Chicago. Currently, Kara is an active member of the Chicago Foundation for Women through several of their leadership councils, and a leader of the Non Profit Technology Network's (NTEN) 501 Tech Club of Chicago.

Administrative Assistant

Maurya is originally from Grand Rapids, Michigan. She graduated from Antioch College in Yellow Springs, Ohio, in 2004 with a degree in Communications and specializing in Media and Social Change in Photography with Youth. She has worked in the field of community development and social change with youth for over 10 years.
Before coming to IFYC as the Administrative Assistant, she was the Office Coordinator for the Michigan Peace Team, an organization in Lansing, Michigan, that provides trainings in active nonviolence, and completed a year-long internship with Tillers International, a sustainable agriculture and rural heritage learning community in Kalamazoo, Michigan.  In her free time, she enjoys volunteering with kids, photography, video production, working with the soil and traveling around doing workshops teaching young agents of social change how to take photographs.
