ZEENAT RAHMAN

ZEENAT RAHMAN

Public Advocacy Program Coordinator

Zeenat is the Program Coordinator for Public Advocacy at the Interfaith Youth Core.  She completed her Master's Degree at the University of Chicago’s Center for Middle East Studies in June 2006. Her thesis work was focused on Muslim youth in America, and the territorializing of Muslim religious institutions in America. Zeenat spent the summer of 2005 attending an intensive Arabic program in Ifrane, Morocco. Prior to working at the Interfaith Youth Core, Zeenat completed an internship at Chicago Public Radio, where she worked on a pilot program about immigrants and the diaspora experience, with the producer of Worldview. Currently, she is one of the co-creators of a play based on Muslim women and their real life experiences, told in monologue format. Zeenat earned her B.A. in Psychology from the University of Illinois, and her professional experience includes organizational development, human resources consulting and recruiting, and financial compliance.

 

JULIE MAXWELL

Public Advocacy Assistant

Julie Maxwell, a native of Elmhurst, IL, received her Bachelors in Theology and Sociology from Elmhurst College, where she was awarded the Founds Medal in 2002 for service to the community. She is a member of Rotaract and Theta Alpha Kappa Theological Honor Society. Julie joined the Interfaith Youth Core at the beginning of 2007, holds the position of Public Advocacy Assistant, and manages all administrative matters for the Public Advocacy program. Raised in the United Church of Christ, Julie brings with her vast experience working with youth, as she is the Director of Youth Ministries at First Congregational UCC in Downers Grove. She continues to engage in service work, and volunteered in South Africa for Habitat for Humanity.

MARIAH NEUROTH

MARIAH NEUROTH

Senior Projects Director

Mariah, a charter member of the Interfaith Youth Core, formally joined the organization in 2003. Mariah has a background in youth program development.  She has been involved in the creation of the organization's interfaith leadership development curricula and publications, and has overseen media production for the Interfaith Youth Core. Mariah has engaged youth in Jordan, Bolivia, Uganda, South Africa and the United States in an effort to encourage civic engagement, identity formation, artistic expression and faith development. Mariah has produced media and art in the Chicago area for over five years.  She has worked with local musicians, filmmakers, and visual artists as producer and curator to create programs and art that showcase the lives and experiences of young people.

ERIN WILLIAMS

ERIN WILLIAMS

Leadership Media Associate

Erin grew up outside of Chicago, and after spending a year in Johannesburg on a Rotary scholarship, she attended Carleton College in Minnesota, where she received a B.A. in Religion. Currently, she works as IFYC’s Media Associate, where she is co-filming, editing, and assisting with an original soundtrack for a documentary about an interfaith exchange between young people in Amman and Chicago. Erin has also assisted with researching and writing articles and liaising with media, government, and civil society groups. Before joining IFYC, Erin worked at Winston & Strawn in Chicago and with the Council for a Parliament of the World's Religions in Chicago and Barcelona. She also co-owned a community-based Chicago art gallery, apprenticed in Atlanta and Boston with The Mirror Project, a documentary company, and interned in D.C. with The Faith & Politics Institute. Erin attended the Global Peace Initiative of Women's 2006 Young Leaders Peacebuilding Retreat and is a member of GPIW's Young Leaders Peace Council. She also serves on the Chicago Global Donors Network Youth Track committee and is a member of Rotaract Chicago, for which she serves on the Board.

IDRIS GOODWIN

IDRIS GOODWIN

Media Consultant

Named one of the most influential people in Chicago under the age of 30 by URChicago Magazine, Idris received his B.A. in Film/Video studies at Columbia College Chicago and a M.F.A. in writing at The School of The Art Institute of Chicago. He has developed numerous video projects for corporate clientele like Ernst & Young and Buddy Guy’s Legends, in addition to many non-profits. He is a frequent guest lecturer, performer and teacher at institutions like School of the Art Institute, Yale, and the University of New Mexico. In 2004, Idris was awarded a NEA/TCG Playwright in Residence grant to explore hip-hop aesthetics.

BRYAN CAMPEN

Online Communications Coordinator

As Online Communications Coordinator, Bryan Campen designs and implements IFYC's use of online and participatory media partnerships, programs and tools.  He comes to IFYC with an in-depth background in social media and online community development.  Before his arrival at IFYC Bryan worked as founder of blueair.tv, a company dedicated to non-profit community-building both on the web and in virtual worlds.  Since 2003 he has been deeply involved with communities ranging from blogs to Flickr, Second Life and Facebook.  This summer Bryan produced the remix of 77 Million Paintings by Brian Eno in Second Life.  The project raised awareness for The Long Now Foundation and was covered in major media outlets from Wired to Current.tv.  He has also contracted on a number of online and virtual campaigns for clients such as Toyota and Governor Mark Warner.
Bryan holds a B.A. in Communication from Wheaton College.  He lives in Wheaton, Illinois, with his wife.
