Yes! Many of IFYC's interns have worked jobs outside of their internship. It is the intern's responsibility to make sure their employment doesn't interfere with their internship schedule.

Are internships paid?

Internships are unpaid. We do not provide living expenses or transportation stipends. We highly recommend and encourage you to search for funding at your institution to cover living expenses for the summer. Please be in touch with Amber Hacker (amber@ifyc.org or 312-573-8937) if you have further questions or funding issues.

I'm not from Chicago! Where should I live?

IFYC offices are located in the West Loop neighborhood of Chicago. One option that many of our past interns have found housing is through the UIC Summer Internship Housing, located close to IFYC offices. UIC Campus Housing provides safe, clean, and affordable housing accommodations for students spending their summer interning in Chicago. Their housing is available from May 24 until August 2, 2009. The housing is furnished and they provide 24 hour security, laundry, and a computer lab. For More Information, visit: http://www.housing.uic.edu/intern/

Interns are responsible for setting up their own housing arrangements for the summer. Please contact us if you have any questions or run into any housing issues.
